Similarities between George Orwell's animal farm and today

So for today's post I am going to do something a little different.  Lately I have been really pissed off about how a small group of people can set the laws for the masses.  What's worse is they do it behind closed doors and with little or no advice from the people.  They make sure the laws ultimately benefit themselves the most and they write the laws in super complicated ways that regular people cannot understand.  The worst part of the whole ordeal is the fact that the people who usually get the most say in the creation of our laws are the biggest campaign contributors, how fucked is that?

You know who predicted that government will ultimately turn out this way? George Orwell.  In my opinion George Orwell was a literary genius.  I bet some people some people of George Oswell's time thought he was crazy.  It's too bad the guy isn't around anymore to be able to say, "I told you so."

My question for you guys is this; if you have read animal farm, what similarities can you see between the government of Oswell's Animal Farm and today's government?

For those of you that haven't read Animal Farm, here's a little summary.

  1. The moment nomads decided to build cities and society, was the moment big brother was born. Animal Farm is a great book, but freedom was taken long before him or any of us...
